Refund & cancellation.
We keep this simple: cancel anytime, no lock-in, no nonsense. If something goes wrong on our side, we make it right.
Free plan
The Prospectus Free plan is permanently free. No payment details are collected or stored, and no charges are ever made — there is nothing to cancel or refund. Your account simply stays active.
Pro plan — billing
Pro is available as a month-to-month subscription (R 49,99 / month) or as a once-off Season Pass (R 249) covering the whole application season. All amounts are charged in South African Rand (ZAR), processed securely via Paystack, and are inclusive of VAT where applicable.
Pro is free for NSFAS-eligible households — there is no charge at all, so nothing to cancel or refund. Monthly subscriptions bill on the anniversary of the day your paid subscription began; the Season Pass is billed once, upfront.
Cancellation
You may cancel your monthly Pro subscription at any time from Settings → Plan → Cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid month — Pro stays fully active until then, after which your account automatically reverts to Free.
The Season Pass runs to the end of its period; cancelling early does not entitle you to a refund of the remaining period unless a billing error or a material data error occurred (see Section 04). We charge no cancellation fees or early-exit penalties.
Refunds
Inaccurate data. Prospectus is built on verified institutional data. If a programme requirement, bursary eligibility rule, APS threshold or deadline published on the platform is materially incorrect and this affected a decision you made in good faith, contact us within 30 days of discovering the error. We will correct it, acknowledge the inconvenience in writing, and credit your Pro subscription for the affected billing month.
Billing errors. If you were charged after cancelling, charged an incorrect amount, or charged more than once for the same period, email support@prospectus.co.za within 14 days. We will investigate and, if confirmed, issue a full refund to your original payment method within 5 business days.
Other requests.We don't automatically issue pro-rata refunds for unused days within a billing month if you cancel mid-cycle. For extenuating circumstances — bereavement, serious illness, or a technical failure on our side — contact us and we'll review your request individually. We never unreasonably refuse a fair refund.
Disputes
If you're unhappy with a charge, please:
- Email support@prospectus.co.za with the subject “Billing dispute — [your full name]” and a brief description.
- We acknowledge within 24 hours on business days and aim to resolve within 5 business days.
- If we can't reach a satisfactory resolution, you may escalate to Paystack (your payment processor) or your card-issuing bank — we cooperate fully with their investigation.
We are committed to fair, transparent billing and will never dispute a legitimate claim or make the process unnecessarily difficult.
Data & privacy
Prospectus is compliant with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Payment processing is handled by Paystack — we do not store your card details on our servers. If you cancel and request deletion of your personal data, we honour that within 30 days in accordance with POPIA and our Privacy Policy.
